Helping himself to some old skool hardcore from the samples buffet without pigging out and making it completely obvious like some folk, Mr B’s badboy 4x4 foot to the backside Serious is in with a shout for 2010’s christening of the year. B, with a bassline to sharpen a thousand knives to from the throes of the crypt keeper, takes to the dub-rave route with his background supplies, and if you listen carefully, can be heard completing the feat of keeping the tempo running to the side of warehouse breakbeats without either tripping over one another. In these frost-covered times, B kicks some snowy ass, like an electro-cleaver version of Armand van Helden’s monster zapper Alienz.

Precision Cuts is also ready to administer a ball-busting, replacing Mr B’s hyper-blades with a dub strut pinned down in a backstreet by night, synths scurrying about the place like nocturnal vermin and maximising snippets yapping as a stray dog. Like discovering a long lost tape pack of decades-old dinginess as a portal to the future, whereas B goes in feet first with studs showing, PC takes a large backswing before landing a steadily measured blow on the exposed target.

Twitch commands a controlled head of breaks with balloon-deflating synths, percussion rattling the cutlery drawer in the kitchen and chords rewiring the chimes of a grandfather clock. The potential of losing one’s head is always brought back down by a gruff snigger and spit of a bassline.
