For this weeks podcast we managed to secure the services of one of our favorite acts in the form of the genre defying Swede Linus Eklöw, better known to you and me as Style Of Eye. Growing up in the musical hotbed of Stockholm Linus began experimenting with music from an early age from crafting down tempo trip hop to unleashing D&B banger on unsuspecting class mates at school discos whilst taking influence from artists from across the musical spectrum. It is this ability to absorb and appreciate everything from Stevie Wonder to Kraftwerk that has shaped the talented Scandinavians acclaimed sense of eclecticism and won him many a fan after the turn of the millennium for his forward thinking cross pollination of that classic jacking Chicago sound with contemporary European electronica.
Signing with fellows countryman John Dahlbacks label in 2007 Linus never looked back gigging at major festivals and club events throughout the world. Taking the last 12 months as a microcosm, Linus has enjoyed show stopping performances at events like Swedish House Mafia’s record-breaking show at the 35,000 capacity Friends Arena in Stockholm, Pier 94 in New York, Tomorrowland, Mysteryland, Snowbombing and Sunburn Festival in India. As if that wasn’t enough he also has a busy career behind the scenes writing and producing tracks for artists such as Icona Pop, Mike Snow and Fenech Soler as he embraces his mantra of “Music not genres” with him stating “'I’d rather die trying to find that special place where time stands still then to safely repeat the same sounds over and over”. So with that in mind kick back, relax turn this up and prepare to be taken on a musical journey courtesy of Style of Eye…

For this weeks podcast we decided to go deep. Like deep sea diver deep as we bring some classically inspired peak time house from Detroit’s latest electronic music export Golf Clap. We’re not sure why it is that the Motor City continues to be such a hotbed for musical talent but all we can say is that we’re glad that it is.
Bryan Jones & Hugh Cleal only started releasing music together as Golf Clap at the beginning of the year but in such a short period of time have already made serious waves in the scene with iconic figures such as Kerri Chandler, Grant Nelson, and Miguel Migs all sitting up and taking notice signing singles and EPs for release this summer.
Booked solid every weekend for the next 5 months in the US and Europe and smashing it at their montly residency at Grasshopper Underground in Detroit where they play alongside acts like Ian Pooley, Eats Everything, Kevin Saunderson, Jimpster, Detroit Swindle, Mark Farina, John Acquaviva & Steve Lawler, we’re tipping these guys for a big summer and beyond. Remember where you heard about these guys first…
What’s your personal favourite track on it?
What’s the best gig you’ve played recently?
And finally, do you have a special message for our readers?

We’re not sure what it is about gritty industrial heartlands that breeds such poignantly great techno but it does. From Berlin to Detroit to East London’s Docklands the landscape just naturally lends itself to the genre. This weeks podcast artist is no exception as Roman Rapeso hailing from the industrialized northern region of France delivers the sort of dark, textured driving techno that can only be conjured whilst living in urban terrain.
Quickly establishing himself in the vibrant Swiss scene after moving there back in 2005 Romano founded one of the countries most credible techno imprints and nights in Teknologik which housed the talents of some of the scene from Marco Carola to Dubfire amongst countless other. A self confessed vinyl junkie with a love of modern technology Romano’s sets often reflect his personality with his passion and enthusiasm shining through. Dark in spots whilst uplifting in others Romano has a style that’s hard to pin down as he experiments with sounds from across the electronic spectrum from Latin rhythms to hypnotic groovy techno numbers to take audiences on a musical journey. Enjoy…
Sum up this podcast in 10 words...
A bewitching, voodoo washing machine spinning round and round…
What’s your personal favourite track on it?
Alexi Delano –Silk Love – for both its power and gentleness which makes me close my eyes and drift away…
What’s the special ingredient in this mix?
The intensity of the mix in its entire integrality- I like giving fullness to my sound, to make each element evolve subtly one by one, building a tension which rises and falls until finally culminating with explosive release.
What’s the best gig you’ve played recently?
End of April with Dubfire and Shaded at Arena Club in Mendrisio near Lugano on the Swiss-Italian border. It was pure madness. I played for 3 hours, the crowd was wild and full of energy, arms in the air… the kind of night one dreams of for every weekend!
What have you got coming up?
The 3rd birthday party of my label ‘Teknologik’ on June 1st in Geneva, Switzerland, followed by our own Sonar Off party with some big guest appearances on June 15th in Barcelona, and another label showcase on July 2nd in Sankeys Ibiza with guest appearances by Fabrizio Maurizi, Nastia, Shaded and Justin James. Finally, we will be in Ibiza all summer long having taken a residency in Forgotten (San Antonio) with some exciting and impressive line ups on the cards- but I cant say anymore about it for the moment!
And finally, do you have a special message for our readers?
Take the time to soak in all these sounds full of good vibes…I hope you get as much pleasure in listening to this mix as I did making it and I hope to see you this summer in Ibiza or at any one of our Teknologik parties!
Love, Romano x

Round-up Podcast

Ramon Tapia was always destined to be a musician. The son of a revolutionary Chilean cultural dissident who had to flee his native land to escape General Pinochet’s tyrannical regime his father settled in the Netherlands where met his wife and then introduced his son to an eclectic array of music. It was in his teenage years that Ramon was bitten by the producing bug after being exposed to the sounds of techno. He then moved to Antwerp to study as a jeweler before starting work in a record store and decide that his destiny didn’t lie with examining diamonds but rather crafting the sounds he enjoyed so much himself.
Ramon then quickly rose through the ranks releasing on a host of the most credible labels from 2000 to Turbo, mixing a compilation for New York’s legendary Strictly Rhythm along the way and then founding his own imprints Aella Music and Say What Recordings. Perhaps the most enchanting thing about Ramon’s work is the passion behind it- this is a man doing his dream job and it shows. Thus it is with great excitement we present this exclusive mix from Ramon and hope you enjoy it as much as we do! With tinges of his Latin background lacing his percussion sections and his Dutch/Belgian heritage providing the basis for his hard-grooving techno template this a mix perfect for that sunny afternoon…

Round-up Podcast

Talented and original, we welcome Swedish electronic starlet Adeline to helm this weeks podcast. Having been brought up amongst idyllic Swedish countryside, Adeline swiftly made her way more urbane climbs as she moved to Stockholm and then embraced the pioneering underground concept that the Stockholm club scene has to offer. She then quickly rose to prominence with the Swedish scene and soon found herself Scandinavia biggest electronic radio show P3 Dans as well as helping in the set up of the then newly formed SoundCloud.
Then arriving in London in 2010 via Milan, New York and Berlin Adeline continue to refine her own distinct sound characterized by hypnotizing chords and warbling basslines over slick melodies that tie together for tracks that stand out in even the strongest of sets. Gaining support from some of the scenes coolest names from Damien Lazarus to David August, releasing on some of the hottest labels in Kindisch and Cuprit and gaining rave reviews from performance across Europe for her performances the future looks very bright for Adeline. Delivering and eclectic and interesting set for us this week we think it’s a firm statement of intent for the summer to come! Enjoy.
Sum up this podcast in 10 words...
Welcome to a rather hypnotic deep trip....
Lots of favourites in here, but I think it would be Untitled by Different Gear or maybe this new track by Uner and Audiofly Nomorephilosophy. Or maybe Daniel Solar's remix of Lightest Shades of Grey, it's one of my classics. Hard pick!
What’s the special ingredient in this mix?
There's definitely hints of melodic basslines and oozing swooshes in this one. I think the best part is that it hits a particular mood all the way through, I like mixes that way. They shall tease you.
What’s the best gig you’ve played recently?
This last weekend I was in Paris, playing at Le Pigallion, and we all had a great time. It was really crazy that place, and the layout of the club made everyone come together in a union nicely. I finished my set off with jumping from a table and was a couple of millimeters from actually just falling straight off it. But I was so happy at the time so it felt more like an advanced circus trick.
What have you got coming up?
Soon I've got two tracks coming out on two Get Physical compilations, and then I'm premiering a new radio show for Pulse Radio next week. I'm currently in a phase of experimenting lots in the studio, working on new material, and trying out new collaborations. The truth is I've never felt so free in my whole life as I do right now, so I'm super excited about what is to come this summer. New approaches, insights and inspiration to be found for sure - I can feel it in the air!
And finally, do you have a special message for our readers?
Yes live hard and let die... Rebirth is the key!

The wonderful world of the internet has given us fresh talents from around the globe and the electronic music scene has never been more geographically diverse. This weeks podcast comes from such an artist in Ardalan who’s early influences growing up in Iran ranged from the pop infused sounds of Daft Punk to the classic techno sounds of Detroit. After moving to America Ardalan’s influences grew substantially as he absorbed the sounds of the Dirtybird crew at one of their infamous BBQ parties in Miami became inspired to produce music of his own.
After months spent tirelessly mastering his new production equipment Ardalan finally harnessed the deep tech infused house sound he was looking for and after submitting a demo to Justin Martin quickly saw his career take off as ‘Mr Spock’ became one of the biggest tracks of 2010. Since then he has continued the momentum with releases on Chillin Music, Anabatic Records, Sound Pelligrino, Kabutomushi Records, Evolution Records, Demento Mori as well as dirtybird and now we’ve invited him to bring his sound to us for this weeks podcast mix. Techy and deep with summery vibes we think Ardalan has nailed the sound of 2013. Enjoy.

Round-up Podcast

Where to start when introducing you to this weeks podcast artist Daniel Steinberg. A prominent figure in the German club milieu, Daniel has been crafting a combination of classic house sounds to the more cutting edge minimalist beats that so often provide the soundtracks to a warehouse on a Sunday morning. Mixing it up are within the core of Daniel’s production values, from quirky playful concotions to tracks that deliver darker flavors it seems important that his productions retain a human element and reflect the many facets of his personality.
His distinct approach to club sounds, as both a DJ and a producer, has piqued the interest of discerning listeners and dancers worldwide, along with a certain Jesse Rose, who signed Steinberg to his Front Room label. After a string of acclaimed release on Front Room he then delivered his debut LP in 2011 before championing a more techno orientated sound throughout 2012 as he continued his musical development and established himself as one of the scenes most forefront taste makers. Check out the latest stage of evolution for Daniel on this weeks podcast. Enjoy.
What’s your personal favourite track on it?
Depeche Mode 'Heaven', I'm so excited about their new album. Depeche Mode have a special place in my heart, my first ever record was Depeche Mode 'Greatest Hits'. I saved my pocket money for weeks and waited in line for two hours to buy it. It was one of the most exciting moments of my childhood.
What’s the special ingredient in this mix?
Well if you think about this mix like cooking a cake, it's not one particular ingredient that makes it tasty but all the very different ingredients working well together.
What’s the best gig you’ve played recently?
I recently played in Italy and we flew into Venice then travelled to a small village in the mountains. I didn't expect much to be honest, but it was very emotional. At the end of my set I played some classic old Italo-disco tracks and everyone freaked out, it was such a magical vibe.
What have you got coming up?
I just released my new album 'Treptow' and next up I'll be releasing a remix album of our Arms & Legs imprint from some producers I really admire, exciting times.
And finally, do you have a special message for our readers?
Hunter S Thompson said it best “Life should not be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in a pretty and well preserved body, but rather to skid in broadside in a cloud of smoke, thoroughly used up, totally worn out, and loudly proclaiming "Wow! What a Ride!”. Thanks for listening.
