House music veteran and Leeds favourite Ralph Lawson is to begin his ambitious run of events with friend and co-project founder, the chef Tom Van Zeller. Combining food and music Ralph explains the idea behind the project,” We wanted to create a place where we would like to go out ourselves. I travel all over the world as a DJ and have the privilege to eat at many great restaurants. It was really inspirational to see what was going on in cities like London and New York with food and I felt a city like Leeds deserved to have a better scene. It is a very similar feeling to when we started the back to basics club for house music in 1991 – we were tired of driving over to Manchester for the Hacienda and wanted our own place in town.”
Van Zeller is no stranger to success with a long list of plaudits for his eponymous restaurant in Harrogate; including 3 Best Chef awards and a indication of the calbire of Tom’s work is that he has the backing of David Moore, owner of two Michelin stars through Pied a Terre and L'Autre Pied restaurants. So with that in mind we can't wait to tuck into Ralph's sounds and Tom's food. Sounds delicious! .
Beat will bring together a restaurant and loft party a series of one-off events in bespoke locations, starting in Leeds on March 22nd for more information check out the facebook page http://www.facebook.com/beatfood
