It's been two decades since Kompakt first threw open the doors on 36 Gladbacher Straße   and two moves, a name change and nearly 500  issued releases later KOMPAKT the label remains immensely popular. Hence to celebrate they’ll be releasing a 20 year, 2 CD retrospective deep from within the vaults of the vaunted German imprint.

Carefully selecting a variety of tracks from the extensive KOMPAKT archives the outlet are keen to stress that this is far removed from a ‘best of’ album and rather a compilation of their ‘proudest moments’ that helped define the KOMPAKT sound as we know it today. So from the dance floor crunching ‘After 909’ by Justus Kohnckes to a more subtle subdued offering like Pluxus’ ‘Transient’ it is a truer reflection of what sounds have molded the label in the past 20 years.
